Thank You, Mom!

I am one of the lucky ones.

My decision to live as the woman I am cost me friends and relationships with professional colleagues as well as some relatives.

But Mom stood with me through all of it. Whatever and whoever else I don't have, I still have her.  That makes me one lucky gal.

Thank you, Mom.  Happy Mother's Day!

The Best Mother (Besides Mine) Of A Transgender Child

"I have lucked out in at least one area:  the Mom department."

I told my mother that once. More than once, actually.  But not often enough: I couldn't.

So why haven't you seen an image of her on this blog?  Well, she doesn't like being photographed, so I have only a few pictures of her.  And she does not want any photo of her made public.  She really doesn't like it when people call attention to her, which is the reason why I haven't written more about her on this blog.

Since I can't put Mom's picture up on this blog, I'm going post the next-best thing: a video featuring another fantastic mother of a transgender child:

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day

Here in the US, today is Mother's Day.

A very happy day to all of you who are mothers--whether you have birthed children, raised them or simply cared for anyone who has needed your love and support.

And I want to make a special wish for my own mother.  I am very fortunate that I am as old as I am and she is still in this world.   During my transition, she stood with me as others abandoned me.

Every trans person should have a mother like mine.  No, forget that.  Everyone should have a mother like mine.

Happy Mother's Day!

To all of you who are mothers--and those of you who love yours, or someone who was one to you--Happy Mother's Day.

My mom is great. But she hates being photographed, and I've been able to take the few photos I have of her only by swearing I would never share them.  Since I do believe in honoring my mother and father (which is not always the same as obeying them), you will not see her photo on my blogs.  However, I'll give you the next best thing--to me, anyway. Here's a photo of a mom riding with her kid in tow:
