But I'm not so crazy about very large group rides. <br /><br />I used to ride in the Five Boro Bike Tour because, in its early years, it was a kind of "coming out" party for cyclists. Plus, it was (and still is) the one and only opportunity to ride over the Verrazano Bridge. And, for a few years, I was a marshal on the ride. I know that many equate cycling with "community" and all that, but for me it is about independence. I like to go off alone and explore, and this is what attracts me to cycling in the first place.
